I have the 9630 unlocked with Verizon. If I were to go to Europe and buy a local sim and put it in my phone and then call someone (in Europe or America), would my Verizon phone number show up on the person's phone or would the phone number associated with the sim card show up?

Each European country has its own native SIM card. You will need one for each country you visit to avoid roaming charges.

It is getting harder to buy SIM cards in Europe unless you have a real mailing address (blame 9/11 for that one).

It's the same in the US. I have to get my son to buy my US SIM cards since he has an SSN and a ZIP code, I do not.
