So I've had my first BB, the Tour, for about six months and have finally been comfortable to try deleting some files in order to free up some memory. After searching through the forums I figured out how to do it. Pretty simple really. I got rid of the vad. files. Gained 5MB. I use Vlingo and have no use for the native voice dialer. I also deleted the sample pictures and video and was suprised to gain 8MB more. Here are the files I deleted in case you want to try it for yourself.

    net_rim_bb_medialoader_backgrounds_9630.cod Sample Pics
    net_rim_bb_medialoader_video_9630_480x360.cod Sample Video

    Anything that begins with

    net_rim_vad

    Computer>Local Disc (C)>Program Files>Common Files>Research In Motion>Shared>Loader Files>OS>Java

I dragged the files to a folder I labeled removed, connected my Tour and ran AppLoader>double clicked Loader.exe

Sweet, but isn't that like throwing a few deck chairs off of the Titanic?

lol, yeah I realize it's not much but if it's stuff I'm not using I'd like to have that space for something else.

can you do this from the bb?
or do you have to use the computer for it?

i can't seem to find the vad files or the media files but can find other net_rim files.
