I have the Tour and I am very happy with it, I prefer it over the 8530.

I have the 8530 and really like it. However, I don't know the difference between the two since this is my first bb. Well I had a pearl several years ago for two weeks

You need to play with them if you haven't and make the choice. I have had 4 Tours and made the switch to the Curve. The OS on the Curve is also a lot more stable and the device is really great. I have no issues with the Curve at all.
    I like it

8530 has trackpad and wifi but feels really light and kind of cheap.

9630 has an iffy trackball and no wifi but is heavier and feels more durable.

Also the tour has the bold keyboard while the 8530 has the curve keyboard.

I don't think you can get a new tour anymore only the 9650 is available on their web site.

Very true, I had a Curve 8530, but would not activate correctly, so I had to send it back. For the time being I'm on my 8330. I didn't like the feel of the 8530, especially the keyboard. But I've also seen quite a few reports on trackball problems with the 9630.

I love my 8530 and is durable, although I do wish it had the BOLD keyboard

    I have the 9630,
the 8330 had the best trackball ever, so coming to the 9630 from the 8330 you'll notice some problems, but I still prefer my 9630 over the 8330 and with OS5 it really is much more solid than it was when it first came out, I don't know any NEW tour owners that have had the problems we had when it first hit the market.

I'm not a big fan of the 8530 and have never heard someone who has had multiple blackberry's praise it.

+2 for Bold 9700! If your with Verizon or Sprint, go with the Tour if you can. Its a much better phone then the curve. Of course not feature wise, but durability wise it feels and looks more professional.

Edit: Just noticed your on sprint. Might wanna go with the Curve. Your gonna need the Wifi for Sprints coverage lol

If this device is the same price as the tour go for it. They are the same device only the 9650 has the pad instead of the ball, which is the main gripe of the tour anyways.

The Bold 9650 would be the way to go. It has pretty much everything that the Curve 8530 has (trackpad, wifi), plus 512MB memory, better screen resolution (480x360 vs 320x240) and better camera (3.2mp w/ autofocus and flash vs 2.0mp fixed focus and no flash).

I think the only reason to go with the 8530 is if you prefer the Curve-style keyboard. It might be worth waiting to see if the Curve 93xx series comes out on Sprint, but that might not be for quite a while.

Get the 9650. More app memory, and the trackpad is nice.

just wait another month or two, blackberrys will pretty much be free are all carriers. too much competition and new models coming will make any existing BB free or pretty much near free. I remember when the 8530 came out, they were giving them away for free at most places or $50
