    So I got a used Blackberry Tour for Verizon yesterday. The ESN checked out so I thought it was fine to buy once I saw that the phone itself works. I got it set up with Verizon no problem, everything worked fine except the email setup. Even just trying to use the setup wizard yields the message "your device has encountered problems with this applications server".

    I had been on the phone all day with CS, and they were stumped at why the email was locked.

    Then I found out finally that the previous user had unlocked the Verizon Tour and used it on T Mobile.

    What has to happen now for the email to work on Verizon?

    It being unlocked isn't a problem. But you need to make sure that the previous owner has released the PIN from their carrier.

    Then if the Email Settings application on the device doesn't connect, try setting the email up via the BIS web page from a computer.
