Opposite problems from most others. I can't remove the battery cover! I surmised and read in the VZW guide that you simply click up on the metal tab and then slide the cover down. Won't budge. I wonder if the dumbass at the store stuck in a wad of something to solve the loose cover problem and jammed up the cover.

Bump. Anyone else? Any trick to this? I slide the metalic looking tab up and try to slide the battery cover down. Not budging.

Put finger nail under sliver clip. Pull latch back. While still holding latch pull back and up... Kinda like a lever....

squeeze the metal looking clip up toward the top of the phone, and then pull the cover out away from the phone, not down.

Thanks guys. I got it. It seemed like the cover slid down and I was going nuts over it. Time for the 16 gb card.

2 broken fingernails and a couple of bite marks later...I read this post. Thank you for your help and for saving the life of my Tour as it was about to become a dent in my wall.
