I popped in my buddy's sim card and got gprs to work, but tmobile doesn't have 3G I'm my area. That aside, the tour does support 3G. Look through the threads, many people have 3G working

Yes it works. I followed the threads posted here and it's working perfect. Including the Browser. I'm very satisfied with my new Tour. (and yes, it's with T-Mobile)

3G implies speed of connection, on a CDMA network, that's EVDo (instead of 2.5G 1xRTT) whereas on GSM its HSP/DA (instead of EDGE) where the Tour is a World phone, I'd expect you'd get 2.5G EDGE or perhaps GPRS speed connections on T-Mo but not HSPA given the lack of radios to support GSM 3/ in addition to those already in place to support CDMA 3G.

T-Mobile USA doesn't operate on 2100mhz UMTS, neither does AT&T, so you won't be able to use GSM's 3G on the Tour in the US. I'm not sure what country you're in, I can't tell from the WAP site. T-Mo USA uses 1700mhz UMTS, so you'll need the 9700...
