If I miss one of those messages then oh well. I usually get those through email anyway. If they need to talk to me they have my number and if I need to find them I am sure I wouldnt have any problems contacting them through work numbers, or email. Its really not too hard to get in contact with someone these days.

only issue i see with this is you don't get a notifier that you have a voicemail other than the icon. i guess if you are always looking at the BB than this will work.

Do these text messages have "BREW" in the body of the text? A whole bunch of numbes and letters too?

Its definitely a software issue. My Tour does it as well, and my Bold used to do it. I loaded a new OS on my Bold and it doesn't do it anymore.

Verizon has always done it this way. On every blackberry I've had/have, I get a SMS when a new Voicemail arrives...

It's not a SW issue. Verizon is sending you a SMS when it receives a new voicemail for your account....

I have Verizon too, and I get sms messages for missed calls and voicemails all the time. I don't know how to stop it either. It sure is annoying though!

Does no one search any longer? This has already been explained in other threads.

I did a search on "stop txt alert" and I am not finding any other threads that address this issue. What do I need to search on to get a solution?

    Thanks

There is no solution at this time. You will receive a (free) SMS alert for all new voicemails. i got them on my VZW 8330 and now my VZW 9630.

The firewall idea is not a viable solution for most people.

    i agree it's obnoxious!

With Verizon call vm and in vm options just turn of vm notification it will not alert the phone that there's a voice mail.

If you do that you'll receive NO alerts for voicemail. No SMS, VM Pop Up or VM Cassette icon.

You'd have to randomly call your VM to see if you have any.

I have called voice mail & I do not find any option for this. What selections are you making to get to this setting?

This is what Verizon tech support told me.
My personal options start with "2".
Perhaps Verizon has different VM setups?
I may need to call tech support again.

From the title of the thread, and content of the post, it seems the OP only wants to stop receiving the SMS voicemail alerts.

Not ALL VM alerts. That would be a hassle to have NO alerts for VM!
