call the police. file a report. good luck. be more vigilant next time.
NO!! keep calling the seller, dont quit so easily!!!
That sucks. I hate Craigslist. I would keep calling. Over and over again he'll be forced to answer sometime.
He disconnected his phone number pure scum bag!!!

yeah be persistent.
call your local police liason team, do you have proof of purchase?
*67 him? or call from many different #'s you will catch him off guard somehow. And when he does pick up dont start yelling right away b/c he will just hang up try to suck some info from him like his address or something then go to his home and thats when you start talking face to face about the bad deal. Put on an act to get the address from him, a new paperboy, i dunno try something.
New paperbpy!! LOL that was a good one, but its a shame that people do that to other people on craigslist.....hope you get it worked out....my boy bought a Storm with a bad ESN and he just unlocked it....but he used it on tmobile
You can list it on ebay
PUT ON THE AUCTION THAT VERIZON LOCKED THE ESN
and a gsm customer can still use the phone...
it's worth a shot i guess...you won't get full value for it but you'll get some money back.
yup! more than likely that person filed an insurance claim on it saying it was stolen so they could get another at half price or less!
friggen scammers!
GL
unlock the phone and sell it to someone on a gsm carrier!
that sucks .. GL
yep thats the best and about the only thing you can do....
Wow sounds good I will try that thanks guys atleast I can get some of the money back

I would try and connect with Verizon Secuirty peeps. This happened to me. I provided all my contact information related to the guy who sold me the phone and then he let me keep and use the phone. Took 20 mins of chatting about how the sale went down and provided any contact details. That's all. I was able to use the phone for 6 months and eventually sell it. All good.
Listen, first of all you should contact the police. You said the scumbag disconnected his number so the police can do a reverse look-up or what ever they do when running a number. Also give the police the craigslist info. He logged on from somewhere and the isp will have this info as well as the registered email address he used. The phone was reported stolen so somewhere there was a police report done. You police should be able to pull up this info...
*67 is dialed before any number you dial to hide your number from who you are calling. The original poster said the number was disconnected... Theres nothing for him to *67
Either that or some poor sap had the window busted out of their car while they ran a quick errand...
just file a dispute with paypal about item not as described or better yet file a complaint as intentional fraud. You'll get your $$$ back, no prob. If you didn't use PayPal, consider it stupid tax and good luck.
OOPS dopey me! craigslist I don't know about last time but NEXT time. I always have my bluetooth connected when I buy off craigslist- I call *611 (customer support) and ask about the esn/meid # right in front of them. It has saved me a couple times.
you could look up the owners name and address using White Pages, Yellow Pages, Maps and Directions on AnyWho reverse number lookup and then provide that to the police
lol, what are the police even going to do? beat him up? i don't know about you but if i were a police officer i probably would not be getting paid enough to look through every little craigslist SCAM.
i offered him the only logical advice from this entire thread, unlock the phone and sell it to a GSM user. lesson learned, the police aren't going to do anything. yeah right...
except now you are knowingly selling stolen goods.. thats illegal in itself. if the person you sell to on ebay decides to file a complaint on you, even if you said it was "locked", charges could be brought on you. doesnt seem very logical to me.. so, i think the best advice in this thread was mine.. post #2.:)
Unless it was a pre-paid throw away phone...
Receiving stolen merchandise, when you knew or SHOULD HAVE KNOWN it was stolen, is a crime itself.
You should turn yourself in to the cops.
no link? ;)
