Blackberry Tour Pricing Without A Contract/Upgrade.

Hey guys,
i've read through the FAQ for the tour, and found information on the pricing of the phone with a new contract, or an upgrade, but i can't seem to find any information or even speculation on the price to buy it outright.

Right now i'm a proud storm owner. But after coming from a Motorola Q9m, i dearly miss the physical keyboard. After putting up with the touch keyboard, and hoping and praying that the new OS would help to alleviate the problem, but no dice.

Anyway, if anyone can provide me with some information regarding my question i would greatly appreciate that. Thanks to everyone.

Now for another (dumb) question. Pre vs. Tour?

i know this is crackberry, so therefore i'll get an overwhelming response favoring the Tour, which is alright because in the end all i need is convinced to buy one over the other.

TOUR! duh.

its all about the keyboard for me, and the pre lacks an above average keyboard. An area RIM has exceeded at.

I wouldn't expect it to be more than the Storm....its $499 retail no contract. The 8830 is $519, so I would assume $519 max

The Bold is what, $449? I can't imagine it would be much more than that.

So now the question is how much to sell the storm for?

My question is, what did you find as far as upgrade pricing? Im eligible for my upgrade in August, so I'll still have to wait a bit. But an extra month is worth saving a couple hundred bucks in my book.

as far as pre vs tour..

thats a personal preference if you do more media things then the pre if you type more then anything on yours then a tour..

For those that say they can't imagin it being more then the Bold, you have never worked in Marketing.

The Bold has been out for a LONG TIME, the GSM carriers needed to bring the price down to keep selling them, the tour will be the first world phone since the 88XX with a physical keyboard, they will sell it for 10-15% more then the Bold at the very least.

here in Canada I am expecting to pay $600-$650 for it when it comes out, and if it is more I'll hide the receipt from the wife haha

I don't follow your logic. You state it will be sold for 10-15% more than the Bold, yet the price you quoted for Canada is the same or equivalent to what the Bold is currently being sold for without contract through Rogers...

the reason it will not face price pressure from the new iphone is because it is not an iphone competitor. the iphone and tour have 2 different demographics.

I think that even though they can be viewed as phones for different demographics, i still believe that in ways they are still viewed in comparison to one another.

When my contract was up around christmas of this year, i had a decision to make. Stay with Verizon, and go with a storm, or switch to AT&T and get an iphone. I chose to stay with Big Red, simply because of it's popularity in my area, and because everyone in my family having it, thus making texting and calls and the sort free.

So keeping that in mind, i know people will be in similar situations, and thus considering both phones. So i do think it will have price pressure from the iphone, the question is, how much?

is it out official or not yet?

Does anyone really think that it would be released much higher than the release price of the Storm? If it's released higher than 200 bucks with an upgrade then I'll have to settle for an 8330 so I can get rid of this POS WinMo phone.

doubt it the storm launched at 599 retail later dropped to 549

the 8830 isn't even half the device of the tour hardware wize so you really think 519 max?

it will more then likely launch at 599 retail 549 lowest..

I'm hoping 550. Anything more would be a heartbreaker.

I'm honestly planning on around $600 for the device.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to price the storm to sell it?

I just sold mine for 200. Lately the most I've seen em go for is 230 and 300 if unlocked. Good luck though.

hopefully i can get that, and then only have to shell out about $400 for the tour.

I agree I want it as low as possible I have to pay retail so the lower the better but I am thinking logically so 550-600 is logical...

When you go to the Website it appears you are correct,

My 549.99 seems to be the No contract price I am hearing from the Store level for the Bold with No Contract.
