The 9700 has a slightly faster processor than the Tour, as well as a newer OS, Version 5.0 as opposed to 4.7. That's not to say that the Bold is any better or the Tour any worse.

If you're going to go to the trouble of getting a Tour and unlocking it to run a SIM card, you might as well get the Bold 9700, it does have a few advantages as opposed to the Tour, the main one being that it's WiFi capable device.

I don't think you're going to see a big difference between the way that either device operates with relation to the speed of the device. I've read that the 9700 is a smooth, snappy device, and I've also noticed that my Tour runs very quickly as well, no real delay of any kind.

Yes if you get a BlackBerry 9700 it will be faster to web browse, etc because on the T-Moblie BlackBerry 9700 will run on 3G while if you get the 9630 unlocked and running on T-Mobile it will run on 2G.

You might find the 9700 wifi handy. Then again, you might find the Tour keyboard a little easy to type with.

Both have typical lousy blackberry browsers.

I just ordered two 9700 from T-mobile. My wife and I are on Sprint I had the Tour and her the Curve 8530. Overall how is the coverage on T-mobile with the 9700. I was going to upgrade to the 9650 on Sprint but I didnt want the same overall phone. Granted it is upgraed in memory and trackpad/wifi but the look is still the same. I really love the 9700 form factor.

Figured I would try the T-mobile arena.

Oh man, you are going to miss Sprint. I wouldn't leave Sprint now for anything. Their price plans are ridiculously cheap. I'm paying about $125 (taxes and fees included) for two lines; unlimited everything except calls to landlines, we get 1500 of those. GPS included. Can't beat that.

exactly, so if coverage is the same (and Sprint has better coverage then Tmo 4 sure) Sprint has the best prices. And the 9650 is NOT the same as a 9630: trackpad, WIFI, double the app memory (512mb). It should beat the 9700 on all fronts
