Does anyone else think that RIM will change the codename 'Niagara' for the BlackBerry 9630 to: the WAVE ?
Personally, I like the sound of it, and think that since it has one syllable like Pearl, Curve, Bold, Storm, etc. it would be appropriate for this new BlackBerry. And RIM could say things like "Ride the WAVE" or "Be part of the WAVE of the future" with your BlackBerry 9630 WAVE !!
Cool name, but I don't think it will be a good one for RIM. They'll probably pick a name that doesn't make any sense to any of us. Just like all the other ones.
lol the wave , haha thats kind of catchy lol.... but i think they will keep it close to niagara , like they did with "thunder" aka storm " so im assuming something like blackberry waterfall ahhaha hahah or something dumb like that lol
I think the wave sounds catchy, but definitely not very business-like
That's the thing that RIM has to worry about. Is will the business corps go for it. I'm not saying that's all they look at, but I think it's a big thing. Because as we know, RIM is a big thing in corps.

Hopefully, they don't call it the "Blackberry Falls"
Since it's intended to replace the 8830WE, I would go with the 9630WE... Hopefully anyway. I would hate if it was released with some goofy name that makes you dig for the association....
RIM is going to name this either Bold WE or 9630 WE because they simply cannot and should not introduce ANOTHER new device to the Blackberry lineup. It is not different enough to warrant a line all to itself. It will almost definitely be called 9630 WE.

But what if there's a 96XX series? Just like the 99XX series. Are they all gonna be 96XX WE's?
Wave, splash, something like that seeing as how its code names niagara. Like thunder turned into storm. Somehow I don't see it going from niagara to Falls. Think about the accidental implications "Blackberry Falls". But I agree with 9630WE. Was the original Curve code named before release? I don't remember

Def not Bold. Its not a Bold. Unlessss they go with "Bold 2" like they did with 8900. But Bold was never on VZW. T-mo had a curve so calling 8900 curve 2 made sense. But who knows?

wave isn't bad, but i dont think it's very "business-ey", if that makes sense.
True, though "Curve" doesn't sound overly professional either. I guess that was targeted more at a consumer audience, though. In any case, I understand all the arguments about 9630 WE and whatnot, but man, are those boring names. I hope they give it a name as well as a number. Oh well: I suppose if nothing else we can keep calling it "Niagara", goofy though that may be.

There most likely will not be a 96XX series unless it IS like the WE, which on other carriers is like 88XX, so that doesnt matter at all. A 99XX series WILL merit its own name because it is going to be a totally different phone with a touchscreen.
I think you are right, and I want to ride that Wave.
I also think RIM is reading all this and that they will use your idea and say that they thought of it first and give you no credit. I will remember you though and thank you after I get on the Wave.
