Hi there... follow these instructions. But be sure that you have the correct code!

***** You must have a SIM card in your phone to complete these steps ( Can be active or inactive ) *****
    1) Go to Settings Menu => and then Options
    2) Select Advanced options => and then Sim Card
    3) Type MEPD using your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEPD)
    4) Type MEP then [ALT BUTTON] then 2 on your Blackberry keyboard (NOTE: You will not see any text appear on the screen while typing MEP2)
    5) You should be presented with a prompt "Enter Network MEP Code".
    6) Enter the Unlock Code
    7) Press Enter (You can use the track ball as well)
    8) Device is now unlocked
9.) To activate GSM mode, please go back to your dashboard and go to Manage Connections
10.) Go to Mobile Network Options
11.) Change the "Network Technology" Option to "GSM/UMTS".
12.) Ensure that Network mode is set as "2G".

Thanks, I've tried that after I enter the MEPD a screen comes up displays SIM, NETWORK, NETWORK SUBSET, SERVICE PROVIDER, AND CORPORATE. ALL SAY DISABLED. Then I enter MEP2 and nothing happens.

You have the Tour 9630 Correct? Because I own the same & this is the instruction I got from the company that provided me with the Code. I followed it exactly without any problem.

How did you obtain the code? You didn't receive instructions with it?

If all say disabled, then phone is unlocked.

You actually don't need a sim card in it to do it.

The Boost SIM is likely an iDEN SIM. It will not work in the 9630.

If you followed the instructions it should work. It worked for me without any problems. Try registering the phone as well: Options --> Advanced Options --> Host Routing Table --> Menu --> Regigister Now.

It may take a few minutes to work properly.

Bingo! Thank you, i'm sure thats the problem. So i would need one of those gsm sim cards? But i was under the impression you could unlock it and put any sim card from any carrier in it and it would work.

Did you have a iden sim card or a gsm sim card.

aliceames, you would need to get a SIM card from a GSM carrier.

The Tour 9630 is not compatible with the iDEN SIM card.

    It's a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT technology.

It's true that if you unlock the Tour 9630 then you can use it with any compatible GSM SIM card. But not with an iDEN SIM card.
