Engadget just posted another leak pointing towards an October release for the Storm 2, but I also saw something else that was interesting.



BB Tour MR1 - Target 9/15

MR1 stands for 'Maintenance Release' 1, i.e. an official Verizon software/firmware update for the Tour.

So who thinks this could be OS 5.0, rather than a boring 4.7.1.xx build?

A "maintenance release" is an upgrade - for the storm, 4.7.0.65 was MR0 - launch software. MR1 was 4.7.0.75 - the first upgrade, and MR2 was 4.7.0.148 - the second upgrade. MR1 for the Tour doesn't necessarily mean it's just fixing nagging little things; there could be any number of things in the software. ****, I bet VZW could even call the 5.0 release MRx if they felt so compelled.

Ithink the first 5.0 device on verizon is going to be the Storm 2. I think they want to have all the hype for the newest blackberry OS on the "best" backberry. but i could be wrong.

Why would I be offended? I don't own sprint. I think you meant verizon sucks though. Their plans makes it's way to the internet all the time. No Offense.

As for MR1. You can call it an maintenance release, upgrade, what ever, but you won't see that much..... Mostly little quirks fixed..... That is all....

I believe i read in another thread that the signal was more stable with more bars and the trackball worked better. Was i dreaming or did i read that somewhere.

5.0 or not, an upgrade to (theortically) make the Tour better is alright with me.

Not sure what this MR entails yet, but I know my QC manager is testing 5.1.(something). They said it tested well and is close to release, but didn't mention exactly what version or an exact release date.

Made me feel like the 5.0.0.191 leak Im running is paltry compared to whats actually out the in the wild. I have hopes now that good things are coming.
