It's not bad to charge it every night. The phone stops charging when the battery is "topped off". You'll notice when you plug it in, there is a lightning bolt over the battery icon, and when it is done charging, the bolt is gone. I charge mine every night, even if there is, like, 3 bars left.
But, yes, also try to see what apps are auto-updating...UberTwitter, for example, DESTROYS battery!

Changed Global to EV in the connection settings.
Started leaving it in a coverage location in the house.
Exited from Google Maps and shut off Latitude.
Turned backlight from 100% to 20%. 20% seems almost as bright as 100% anyway!
