Well, when I went to bed I had 4 bars and when I woke up it was almost dead.

Any reason why? How can I prevent this without turning it off?

Standby mode? Charge it at night?

I thought about standby mode. I'll have to try that tonight.

I don't like to leave it on the charger. It's bad for batteries to stay on the charger when they're fully charge (if they have memory).

I thought the battery would last a few days. I don't want to have to charge it every night.

Batteries have a charge when you get them but you need to reset the memory of the battey. Take it down to zero then do a full recharge. Do this a few times then go to your normal pattern. I would charge every night. This isn't an iphone. You have a replaceable battery batteries can range from $10 to $30.

lithium-ion batteries don't have a memory issue, it will not harm the blackberry to be plugged in over night.

plus, the charger is "smart" and will not charge the battery when full

This is false, the discharge method is only required for nickel batteries

Some apps like Twitterberry, Gmail, and Viigo and others may be constantly updating overnight and draining your battery.
If you hold the BB menu button it will bring up your open apps. The BB standard apps will always be open, but close everything else.

So basically I'm stuck charging my phone every night?

Also, I can't get blackberry messenger to close. Every time I go into and click close, it's still under my app switcher.

I don't have my tour yet, but with my curve, I easily go 2 days between charging with only light use, like checking email (not replying), a few texts and a few phone calls.

I can't believe that your phone will almost completely discharge doing nothing overnite. Either something is open and constantly updating, or you have a bad battery, or bad charging circuit.

BTW, I guess the battery indicator on the tour has bars unlike the curve which was solid? In your first post I had thought you meant your signal went from 4 bars to nothing overnite.

I have noticed when I leave my phone on my headboard at night around several remotes with batteries that it does zap the battery. I know its weird but if I leave it somewhere else, it is fine.

All batteries in new phones don't have a memory issue, as explained above. You can leave them charging overnight and no harm will come from it.
