    For those new to smartphones I though I would post my experience with smartphone discharge rates. This is probably the most glaring shortcoming you will see coming from a feature phone/dumb phone. The battery life will simply not be the same. With that said, I have used the Iphone 3G/3GS, BB Bold, Storm, Curve and Tour and the Winmo Touch pro and Touch. Here is what you should expect with todays more powerful and feature rich devices;

    Very light usage; 1-2% battery loss per hour
    Light to moderate use; 3-4% an hour
    Moderate use; 5-6% an hour
    Moderate to heavy use; 7-8% an hour
    Heavy use; 9-11% an hour

    This have been what I have seen from blackberry's using meterberry (great app) to monitor. So, with moderate use, you can expect to get around 28 hours before you battery dies. Heavy use and your phone will be dead within 12 hours.

    I'm charging my battery now after just getting MeterBerry. When I picked up the phone, it was noticeably hotter than usual when charging. Does MeterBerry speed up the charge rate? Is that why my phone feels so hot?
