- jeffhRetired ModeratorDefinitely not overclocking; the Tour gets hot enough as it is. And I don't know any app that can speed it up. I think we're just going to have to wait for an OS upgrade to fix it. With the emphasis on pushing OS 5.0 out the door, the problem may get worse before it gets better.11-04-09 09:41 AMLike 0
- yeah i am having similar issues with this newest facebook app....the lag with that program makes it basically unusable...any suggestions??
i even found out last night that when i send a message on the newest facebook app it doesnt actually go to the recipient....
will the OS 5.0 help this?
EDIT....i am also on the OS verizon 4.7.whatever that verizon currently has out11-04-09 09:43 AMLike 0 - jeffhRetired ModeratorI don't use facebook and can't offer any suggestions on that. As for the lag, it's just the OS. 5.0 may help or it may not. It all depends on how much optimizing and tweaking RIM does before they push it out. Considering the new BBMessenger as an example, I'm not optimistic.11-04-09 09:48 AMLike 0

- Nothing except the 5 core apps - browser, bbm, phone etc.
I do have facebbok app installed as well as flickr upload, and yahoo msgr but I always close those apps out correctly when I'm done using them (menu, close)
As a matter of fact as I was writing this, it froze for about 10 seconds.

- For your text message, are most of your texts from one person? Or do you text a lot of people in general? I got a whole craplaod of lag when I had a lot of texts going to someone - like 10 -15 for one person, and once I cleared up my outbox, the problem was completely gone.11-04-09 05:40 PMLike 0
- I thought about this for a few to figure out what you meant by the lag issue. i had the Tour for a few weeks now and yeah the lagging occurs randomly. when i am scrolling to find a message or a picture, it has a 7-10 second delay. i do have an 8 gig with many pictures, that is the size of the pics im sure, but scrolling messages and such, yeah i move the wheel and it doesnt do anything for a few. now it isnt really bad on my end. could it be the companies? Sprint, Verizon? etc? also someone on here mentioned they are lag free with the 5.0, possibly try the upgrade. what could go wrong. just backup your original OS? I wouldnt mind trying the new OS. i know its not full yet, but why not?11-04-09 05:46 PMLike 0
- The tour really does have lag problems for a good portion of tour owners. Not all tours are made the same I have found out since I am on Tour #7 due to defects on the trackball/keyboard and lines on the screen. RIM has really dropped the ball on quality since the 833X series IMO.
All VZW will do is send me a new Tour and I am not impressed with it at all.
The OS that was released with the tour was/is a good one. I just dont think RIM is actually taking the time nor care anymore on getting it done correctly. They have gone the MS way in Quality Control and regard for their products.
The 5.0 230 leak for the tour is a very very nice OS but if you dont do a batt pull often (not always daily) it starts to show its lag really bad.
As soon as I am able to jump ship say to an Android based phone I will do so. I know the grass isnt always greener on the other side but anything has to be better than RIM at the moment.
I hope RIM will wake up soon as I really dig their products just not their lack in Quality and product.11-04-09 06:21 PMLike 0 -
I don't know if I agree with you about Android however... RIM isn't flying in the stratosphere anymore, but I still think they are top of the mountain. If Bold 2 sucks like Storm & Tour, then I may change my mind.11-05-09 09:14 AMLike 0 - TRU TRU TRU! You echo my own observations. Tour was/is not ready for release; new batches may be "fair" now, but certainly not when released. RIM lost massive cred from Storm and now Tour being released way too early.

the more models we make, the more we can sell11-05-09 09:48 AMLike 0 - Its not as bad for RIM as you would think. The Bold released with worse problems than the Tour, just that it didn't release in the US like that... Later, most everything got fixed and it was considered the best BB out there and caused new demand for phones like the Tour to compete.

Also with a $50 price tag (or free) and the new OS5 I bet they will be able to clean out stock pretty easy still.
