For the past two days i have been unsuccesful with trying to back up
my device. I installed the desktop manager that came with my phone. when i try
to do the back up, halfway thru the process i get a message saying "there was an error backing up my files". i have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and still get the same message.

Also i get an error message when i try to open the itunes media sync.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What operating system is running on your computer. If it is Vista, Vista 64 bit, Win7, you can try running DM in compatibility mode.

Definitely uninstall/reinstall the blackberry desktop software. When it asks you to select BB internet service or BB enterprise service make sure to choose the right option, if you get the same errors again try and download the BB dtm from the blackberry.com web site.
    Hope this helps.....

Try deleting your cache in the browser.

If you install the Desktop Manager software from the Blackberry website, stay away from version 4.7. It doesn't work well with the Tour. 4.6 works fine.

Exactly. Uninstall that 5.0 DM that came with the phone. Blackberry.com and
get 4.6 instead. If you get the same error message, clear the browser cache
on your phone as mentioned previously above.
