Just use the built-in one...why pay for something that's already in your phone

The Tour doesn't need a memory booster app, imo. You'll be wasting your money.
How can you find the one in your phone?

X2. I turned on the memory cleaner thing, but it really slowed down my phone( it wasn't cleaning while i was experiencing sluggish use)
where is this so called built in memory booster.
Here's a quote from "noroll" concerning the memory cleaner that I found in another post:
I don't know if that's what "mfldmike" is talking about, but that's not the same thing I guess as the memory booster app. But I don't think it's really necessary myself since the Tour has so much memory. (I'm coming from a Curve and I'm still blown away by seeing 107mb instead of 35, lol.)
well mflmike, is the memory cleaner the thing you are talking about?
You just do hard resets or make sure you close the apps you're not using and uninstall everything you don't use.

I have used( Memory Up Pro) on all my phone's i in my experience dont think it fouls up any of my phone's and really like the defrag . nothing on the phones by itself i find does the same job as well as that app.regardless of how much memory you have in my opinion it should always be looked after like well guarded realistate. i hope this helps in you're decision.. :)
Well excuse the **** outta me! I thought I seen a thread on here that stated that the built-in thing was INDEED a memory booster.
Wow, you make one ******* mistake and a **** ton of people jump down your throat.

the consequences of posting in forum... hmmmm
Mfldmike,
I think you took the posts out of context. They didn't appear to be slamming you at all, just asking you to confirm if that was what you were talking about.
Chill...
This is directly from Blackberry's knowledge base...in my understanding when YOU CLEAR CACHE'S your device will run faster...so to "split hairs" here you CAN consider it a memory booster. The one guy is right, it does write over the actual memory with zero's however, that's NOT the only thing it does.
Take this all in with a grain of rice...for me, I use it...I don't have a problem with my Tour or ANY memory issues.
our handhelds memory can contain sensitive information such as passwords, email message bodies, and private keys. To eliminate the risk of that information being compromised, BlackBerry supports a feature called Memory Cleaner. The Memory Cleaner has two main functions:
1. Secure Garbage Collection
2. Clearing Caches
Secure Garbage Collection
All Java objects are stored on the handheld in RAM or flash memory. Normally, when a Java object is no longer needed, the memory assigned to that object is released to be overwritten by new data. When Memory Cleaner is enabled, the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) overwrites the memory using zeroes before it is released. As a result, there is no way to retrieve the data from the memory chips.
Clearing Caches
Memory Cleaner clears various caches on the handheld including the temporary key store, content protection caches, address book caches, and the handheld clipboard. See the Additional Information section below for the complete list of cleared caches.
When it actually works:
Installation
Memory Cleaner is installed and enabled with the installation of the S/MIME Support Package. Memory Cleaner is installed with BlackBerry Handheld Software version 4.0, but is not enabled until Content Protection is enabled.
Automatic Activation
Memory Cleaner is activated automatically when:
1. The handheld is synchronized with the desktop.
2. The user locks the handheld.
3. The handheld locks after a specified amount of idle time.
4. The user changes the time or time zone
Your right...I did act a little irrationally. I just thought it did a LOT more, but there are reports of people on different forums saying they actually gained memory using this thing.
So is this thing useful (in a everyday situation)...or junk???
Am I missing something here? I didn't see anyone slam you. I just saw a bunch of people who honestly wanted to know what an "internal memory booster" is.
I don't know of any internal memory booster that comes with the phone. I think mfldmike was referring to the memory cleaner (which does in fact slow down your device if left on). You can however optimize your memory by deleting apps you don't use, clean out your inboxes & call logs daily, reset your device daily (battery pull) and clear your event log a couple times a week.
didnt mean to sound like i was slamming anyone.i was trying to say i guess try it ,the app is available via trial. also if i looked to harsh i apologize its a problem i have being interpreted lack of face to face and voice..so i apologize again if it's i you are referring:(
I have used both Memory Manager and Memory Booster. Both were purchased for the Storm, and installed on the Tour. I don't see where there is such a difference.
The app that I do like to use is Quick Pull. I schedule it so it resets the phone every morning and it seems to run fine all day.
and used on all my phones (memory up pro) for the defrag feature :)
I already apologized for my post.
As I stated in a previous post, there have been reports on forums/message boards where people are using this program and it has been freeing up some memory for them.
Also, in essence isn't that the exact definition of cleaning memory..."writing all zero's?"
Even if that's not the case the memory cleaner cleans your device's "cache's" which would in turn give back some valuable space. Not that the Tour needs it because of the massive amount of memory that's still available.
I personally use the memory cleaner and the option that turns the device off/on at a specific time...this way I can simulate a battery pull when I'm sleeping and I don't skip a beat. I haven't had any problems such as; laginess, out of memory errors, ect. I would contribute my good fortune as a combination of what was stated above.
I meant there's no memory booster that comes stock. You have to install an app for that.
Options>Security Options>Memory Cleaning
Now why would you think that RIM would call it "Memory Cleaning?" I don't know myself, all I know is that with a combination of the things I said my device runs PERFECTLY, and that's without purchasing the "memory cleaning" apps that are available online.
I used to be a Windows Mobile user and there was a LOT of memory cleaning options that were in fact FREE, I just don't see the need to pay for something that you can do yourself with just a little bit of time and patience.
