2 days ago I switched from an ATT Tilt PDA (MS Mobile OS - touch screen) to Credo (Sprint network) 8330. I find both phones have pros/cons but there are a few features (like Java) on the BB that are much superior to the Tilt so I intend to stay with BB.

However, the 8330 camera is a real disappointment - if there is any light area in the view field, it throws off the exposure significantly. Also find that the trackball is much less efficient (at least for me) than the touch screen. The battery charge is also dramatically less than the Tilt.

So, while I have the 30 day window to switch phones, I will appreciate advice regarding any benefits/drawbacks in switching to the 9630.

    Thanks for any help.

I carry both the 9630 and the 8330,
THE only advantage of my 8330 over my 9630 has been Voice reception in rural area's and physical durability, my 8330 is much older and has been beaten up hard, but still looks pretty good, the 9630 started looking beat up after the first 10 drops.

the 3.2MP camera on the 9630 does much nicer pictures and the flash seems to be better as well.

I prefer the keyboard on my 9630 to the 8330 but the trackball on the 8330.

AND I understand the 9650 is out on the Sprint network, I would HEAVILY suggest looking at it, I was waiting for this to come to Canada, until I saw the Slider which will be my next phone.

Depends if you are trying to save money. The tour is a great smartphone and you can get it for cheap now.

I've had my Tour since November, and it's the best BB I've owned. There's nothing wrong with the Tour, I recommend it to anyone I talk to interested in a nice BB.

By far? Someone who's using a Tour side by side with a 9650 wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The phones are pretty much the same. lol

You have to remember that the 8330 is a much older phone (like three years older). It only runs OS 4.5 (unless you've installed a leaked 5.0), has 96MB of memory (vs. 256MB in the 9530 and 512MB in the 9650), a 240x320 screen (vs. 360x480), and a 2.0MP camera (vs. 3.2MP).

If you like the Curve model instead of the Tour/Bold, you would probably be better off with the 8530 instead, which has more memory than the 8330 and includes wifi. It's the update to the 8330 lineup. If you want more power, better screen resolution and better camera, you might want to look at the 9650.
