Hmm, 9600. Wonder what's different on that one, if there even is a 9600.

I don't think they're coming out with 9600. If someone on GSM wants something like the 9630, wouldn't they get the 9000, I'm saying this because I've seen that people are calling the 9630 the CDMA version of the 9000

well this is not the same format as the 9000....
IF verizon is behind this, then Vodafone will require the GSM version, just like the 9530/9500. It might be the EU version of the 9630.... Just guessing here...

My guess is that it's a mistype, as the 8900 and 95xx share the same batteries.

Probably is. But it stands to reason that the 96xx will use that same DX-1 battery since it is so similar to the 8900 in size and design.

Which battery does the 9000 use? I could see them using that one also.

Based on my experience, ( I used to work for a aftermarket cellphone accessory manufacturer ) some companies use use the series numbers to indicate model line up. For example if we were selling a battery and let's just say that all bb batteries are the same (not sure if they are or not) then we would indicate that we are selling batteries for the blackberry 8000 series which would be for all curve and world edition phones.
    This is my guess.

The 9000 uses a very different battery. It is not at all the right shape to fit in a '8900 sized' device like the 96xx.

The Niagara, Storm, and Curve 8900 all use the same battery which is quite different from the 9000. The Bolds is a lot longer and thinner.

It could be they are just describing the series, not the actual phone model, such as the 8800 series including the 8810, 8820, and 8830. It could be they are saying the battery fits the 9600 series, which at the moment, would only include the 9630.

Yep, and as a side note the same battery works in the Storm and the 8900 Curve. I'm hoping this means RIM is standardizing their batteries. I hated having different batteries for my 8830 WE and 9330 Curve.

They have it's wrong, it's the 9630. But rumors are there is a new Bold coming, so the 9030 could be a step uped Bold.
