Is there a way to check the speed on my browser? I don't think my Tour is any faster than my 8330 Curve was when I was using the browser.

Just wondering if there is a way to test speed.

    TIA

How is your signal strength on the Tour? If it is low, that will limit data speeds.

    Thanks...

    Okay, here are my results...

    Download- 191.62Kbits/s
    Upload-50.86Kbits/s

Is that any good? What's 3g average speeds?

I'm getting 572.54 down and 361.12 up at -80 dbm signal strenth. Granted that I can see the vwz tower less than 1/10 of a mile from my house, which helps.

    I got 376.63 up and 253.41 down.

That is about 1/4 of the speed I got with the Palm Pre.

That test isn't accurate. It only tests your speed through BIS so I wouldn't take it as a real result. Perfect example was the other day I ran that test at work and got 421 down, 360 up but when I tethered my Tour right after, I got 2350 down, 650 up.

exactly. data's being routed through RIMs servers on BIS so its gonna be way slower. tethering speeds will show the device's true max dl/ul speeds.

The best I've ever gotten as far as signal strength goes is -80dbm, with FULL BARS. Lame! I didn't do the speed test though!

Ok...maybe the test isn't accurate but, subjectively, web browsing on the Tour is significantly slower than on my old Treo 755p.

With the native browser yeah its gonna be slower. Try bolt if you want speed.

Also, a cdma blackberry will not show a signal better than -80dbm even if the signal IS better.

Keep in mind Data speeds also deal with your location and tower signals.

Maybe that's why people are posting their signal strength along with their speed results, eh?
