I downloaded from Blackberry.com- Blackberry tour 9630 smartphone 5.0 User Guide. Under "Media-Memory and Memory Cards" I saw this:

Your BlackBerry device supports media card sizes up to 32 GB. Only microSD media cards are supported.
Really??? My phone is now capable (with 5.0 update) of using a 32 GB card instead of just 16 GB?

Are the microSD cards rated for speed and if so what's recommended?

Ok, I see I'm late to the party.

If these memory cards are speed rated, does the speed rating only effect the transfer rate? Will a slower card effect performance or playback on my BB? I would like to match the card to my tour for optimum performance. Could a fast card be a waste of money? Can the tour utilize these higher speeds?

Verizon has not released 5.0 for the 9630 yet, but you can use another carriers OS. Check the 9630 section for further details and installation help.

Anyone use a class 6 memory card (or something faster than class2)?

BlackBerry is optimized for class 2 speeds. Where a class 6 comes into play is data transfer when you use it on a computer. Takes a lot less time for up/downloading files with the 6.

My card is an 8 gig class 6 Transcend. Works like a charm.

Thank you BergerKing, that was very helpful. I have an email into BB asking what the read/write speed is on the 9630 but I haven't heard back yet.

Can you tell me if computer transfer speeds would be faster with a regular card adapter (goes into a slot) or a USB card adapter?

Are the cards on eBay ok to buy? Some can't be returned. How can they sell them so cheap? I read that they don't come in manufacturer packaging but yet they claim to be new.

What email address did you mail them at? I emailed a question and got an automated response that I had to sign up for some pay per incident crap..
