you can, at bestbuy and pick up in store. But if you walk in and try to buy it there, they'll tell you you have to go into a contract. I guess dangling the carrots at ATT store, they still won't bite selling it outright. Doesn't make sense to me
this is looking rather inconsistent..
i'm going to have to buy my phone outright anyways, since Fido will likely not carry this phone, and i was hoping to save a few pennies hopping across the border.
Anyone in and around Detroit successful in getting one?
Definitely try craigslist. Someone in the Charlotte area had their Torch up for $300...don't know if it is legit or not, but hey, could be worth the risk.
"You may purchase a new AT&T phone without a contract at the no-commitment price. This non-discounted equipment purchase option does not require a two-year contract or other long-term service commitment. No-commitment equipment pricing is available to customers that are not on a prepaid or GoPhone plan. You can purchase a phone at no-commitment prices at AT&T retail stores. For an AT&T retail store near you, visit our store locator."
The price is listed at $499.
Edit: I found this when I clicked the "No Commitment Pricing" on the Torch page. Seems as if you went to a retail store and pointed this out to them they couldn't really deny you the right to purchase without a contract.
oh, Nice!! I'm printing that out. Never had so much trouble trying to spend $500 on a cellphone
Walmart 500+tax in L.A. Got mine last week no questions asked took 2 minutes in and out. And next door was an att store they wouldn't sell it to me without renewing contract. I went back to show them my walmart receipt and the guy who worked there told me after he gets off work he was going to walmart too to buy it no contract. Stupid AT&T they think people are stupid or something.
