Just upgraded 3 day ago from a Samsung A737 slider. I went with the Torch primarily for the qwerty keyboard for texting, and for email access "on-the-fly." So far, I'm impressed! Data usage appears to be low, and I get AT LEAST 2 days on battery usage. I love the keyboard/thouch-screen hybrid.
The learning curve (no pun intended) is a little steep, but that would be true of any real smartphone. So far, I love it!
Of course, the $49.99 upgrade, with a free case and car charger at Costco was a no-brainer. At first, I was afraid that the $15/month data plan would be too small, but I don't think that'll be a problem.
I came from an iPhone 3G and wouldn't go back. The Torch phone is a better phone and all though the learning curve is initally a bit daunting after 3 years of iPhone... Oh and the battery can be accessed to switch out or reboot- a definate improvement.
Came from a Nokia E72. I loved that phone but got sick of the lack of OS support and RAM. The browser would freeze/shut down at half of the web sites I visited.
My only other BB was a 7280 that I recently found again.
Upgraded from the bold 9700, I still own the 9700, and I have to say I cannot really compare the two devices since they have different approaches and markets but I am happy with my upgrade to the bb torch, a multi-touch screen with a slimmed bold keyboard, you cannot go wrong with that plus a camera upgrade..although the bold has a faster bootup time which is weird because they have the same processor and the bold has only 256mb of ram..but who cares..torch is more worth of an upgrade compared to the 9780 IMO.
I upgraded from the 9700...I loved the Torch at first...shortly after I started to really miss my 9700...I decided to hold on to the Torch for a few weeks to be certain if I wanted to switch back to the 9700 or not...I'm glad I kept the Torch. I love it!
liked my pearl. loved my curve. and learning to love my torch. wanted a 3g device and have that now. and, the wi-fi proved most beneficial on a recent trip to europe. forgot to bring an adapter for my computer, so it was my torch that kept me connected!
I went from my Curve 8310 to the New Torch I am with AT&T and I love this phone. My Curve was great but I like this phone so much more. I was just in China for 2 weeks and the wifi work great and save me money on data chargers.
crappy moto razr -> bb 7120-> pearl->8110->bold 9000->iphone 3gs->torch->9700->torch. loving torch after the OS upgrade, it is fast smooth and responsive
I had a Curve 8310 from AT&T. The Torch is miles ahead of that curve. Several of my clients had Bold 9000s or 9700s and have switched to the Torch. They're happy with the switch.
