How do i turn the shutter sound off when i take a picture?
You can't. There have been a few threads on this already. There is no option on the Torch to turn it off and no 3rd party apps have been able to disable it (yet).
So many pervs on here.....
It can be used badly, but my kids (2 and 3) stop what you are trying to take a picture of if they hear the camera noise. Just have to get it right on the first try. :)
simple workaround.. install the capture it app load the camera app then capture it!
girlfriend told me about it.. should i be scared? : \
BRILLIANT idea! Just tried it and worked like a charm.
That was a great idea. Seriously how can they not have an option to turn that off? At least do it automatically on vibrate. Me n my ex used to like to take random pics of each other n send em while at work. And i didnt want the sound going off in my office cuz ppl would wonder wtf im taking a pic of, and i didnt want to have to explain that.
it's required by law to make a sound.
its not
ive had many a phone that has a shutter off option
plus the law you are referring to...is yet to become a law
A little disappointed about this. It seems RIM forgot about this detail

I think it's a law in china and japan so I assume that's one of the reason.
I believe you are correct. BB made the phone so it would be legal in all countries that it plans to sell it in. Even though it is not a law in the US yet, other countries do have the law.
Call your vmail then start your camera.

clever....
The resolution would go down the toilet.
Just saying,
It would fall from a 1200 bu 900 or something to about 480 by 360.
Someone wants to get a candid upskirt shot..

Law isnt the reason why there's not a method to mute that sound. In BBM, when u ask to save ur conversations into ur media card it tells you that it is illegal in some country and u have to do this by ur own risks, if law was the issue, they would have done the same for the mute.
