Sorry if this is a repeat thread, but i haven't seen a direct answer yet. Will the Torch 9800 be receiving an OS6.1 upgrade? It seems the OS utilizes a lot of new hardware, so i'm doubting it will. Does anyone have any clarity on this?
Thanks.

It has been answered. Probably/maybe

If/when it comes, you'll see it here on the forums. So keep checking back. Because there have already been a bunch of threads asking about it.
Alright, alright haha. I get it, i did a bad job searching for the question.
it probably will, just without some of the stuff for the new BBs
I assume it will...

6.1 Lite ... Whatever that means...

Well, a bit like OS6.0 on the 9700 I should imagine. The base theme does a lot less on the 9700 than on the 9780. I know I have both devices.
I'm with habicht. Sounds like 6.1 lite is the solution for current BB6 phones.

Why does OS6.1 need more hardware requirements than OS6? Isn't it just OS6 with new features?

its not that it has higher hardware requirements, its that it is designed with that new hardware in mind.
Oh that sucks. So is there any major difference between 6.1 and os 6?

The only features I want from 6.1 are mobile hotspot and homescreen customization.

I did read that you'll at least be able to select which tabs (or "pages", whatever you want to call them) to show on the homescreen, which is a big step forward since most people don't use them and are actually annoyed by them.
hopefully mobile hotspot as well, if its not added then i guess ill have to wait for the Torch refresh then (hopefully this rumor becomes true)
Yeah, who needs better graphics, hd recording and html5 support? Haha

I still think it requires higher hardware requirements too when it comes to taking advantage of features like HD video, "liquid graphics", augmented reality with the magnetometer, etc.
Meh, its a phone at the end of the day. I use it for work, so mobile hotspot will be extremely useful. I rarely use the video camera on my phone and I don't play games, so those features are not important to me. If I need those features, I will use them in my future Playbook.

As slow as "official" updates appear, it would seem that the T1 will get it after the T2 is launched later this year. Either way our appetites are being whet for the full blown QNX OS.
