Will the chargers for the 8900 work on the torch? And are the batteries the same ? And can you turn the touch screen off and just use the key pad ?

Don't really want a touch screen , and I have 6 batteries for my curve and 2 car chargers so I was just wondering.

    thanks

Charger is a micro USB and not a Mini USB.. so check what the 8900 has.
No you can't turn OFF the touchscreen... but you can use the keypad for everything else that you want to do..

The battery is slightly smaller in the Torch. Since you don't want the touchscreen, there is not much reason to get it. Wait for the 9700 and update to OS 6 or wait and get the 9780.

He wants the larger screen that the Torch provides. I thought I wanted that too, but now that I have the phone I hardly ever take the effort to pull out the slider. I've found that I've gotten pretty much used to using the touch screen.

Yes chargers will work, both have micro usb ports so you can use your 8900 charger and data cable and it should work fine. I did the same thing from my 8900 to the 9550 and then the 9700....all my 8900 charging/data accessories worked just fine.

The OP wants the larger screen without the touchscreen. Has he/she tried it in a store? It might be possible by adjusting the touch sensitivity to the lowest setting but I still think it is a waste given how well the the touchscreen, trackpad and QWERTY keyboard work together on the messaging and web browsing side.

Torch has OS 6 and 9780 will have OS 6. At present, 9700 is on OS 5. Sometime in the near future, 9700 will have OS 6. When?? Who knows...probably after all the new OS 6 devices are released.
