AT&T Maps and NAVIGATOR - should I or shouldn't I?

When installing this app, AT&T Maps and Navigaton is requeting permission to use the following resources:
Pesonal Infomation
Appearance Settings

Why are these two questions being asked?
Is either necessary for this app to function properly or fully?
Is there a downside to refusing "permission"?
What does it mean for me to give permission to personal information? My initial reaction is to say no.

Does anybody really know the answers to these questions? Any thoughts and answers would be appreciated.

It is. I wouldn't worry much, it's not like it's an unknown 3rd party, it's at&t.

Personal Info - it'll be able to use the addresses you may have in your phone book vs. having to type and remember the address.

Appearance Settings - not sure... my guess would be so it could have the gps sign on the top (near signal bars)

It's not a big deal and it's nothing that'll be shared.
