I'm sure at some point we will see a torch refresh with a better screen and possibly a faster processor. Maybe if were all real lucky, maybe a QNX based OS... Suppose we can dream.

They're going to have to given how much market share is being lost to Apple. Either a refreshed Torch with better screen, faster CPU, second camera or a whole new device. Either way, they have to do something much bigger to stay in the game.

My best guess is that they will be going towards something like the Droid sort of look but they are not abandoning the physical keyboard, because it seems like 99% are in love with the physical keyboard on it and finds it as its best feature. Somehow while I like my physical keyboard on the 8330, I get finger cramps using the physical keyboard on the torch and feel like I'm gonna get a carpal tunnel syndrome any minute, due to the thin back of it, plus how the heavier top is pulling down.

My idea for a new BB would be like the droid or Iphone size with a Motorla blackflip style keyboard.

I just searched the images, and this what came up

There are plenty of touch screen/slider phones on the market. Hopefully Jobs is not naive enough to believe that adding a physical keyboard to the iPhone is going to end RIM.
I love a physical keyboard but that's got nothing to do with why my company provides ~500 of it's employees with Blackberries. I'm willing to bet that hundreds of thousands (just guessing) of other companies aren't going to switch to iPhones for there employees, just because Apple screwed on a keyboard.

I could see this if your built like a 5 year old girl (and if you are then my apologies) but I think for the average adult..the keyboard on the Torch is fine. Otherwise I'd suggest up'ing your milk intake and perhaps lifting some weights.

Have a look at the date of the article on the link in Shodan775's post. It's dated way back in July of 2008. Two years have passed and Apple is no closer to breaking in to RIM's corporate business now than they were then.

If Apple thinks all they need to do is add a physical KB to an iPhone and they can go out and take market share away from RIM, then they are more delusional than I thought. No major corporation is going to consider a mobile device that doesn't have solid and secure email, a solid and secure OS platform that they can customize to fit their IT policy, solid call quality, and exceptional battery life. None of which the current iPhone nor any of it's earlier models have the ability to do. Apple ain't like BK, you can't have it your way. You do it Apple's way or not at all, which is the prime reason I don't own an iPhone. I don't want to have to be locked in to their way.

I'm not knocking the iPhone, look how many are out there. It's probably the most successful device launch since Motorola launched the original RAZR years ago (c'mon you know you wanted one, and so did everyone else at that time). IMO I just don't think Apple gives a crap (right now at least) about whether or not they crack the corporate world. They're working on devices to launch on other carriers networks right now. Apple is making major bucks off the iPhone and they will make even more when the other carriers get the device. I could see an android device cracking the corporate world before Apple. The android OS is more open for development to lock it down securely and modify it for corporate use.

OK back on track. As to the OP's question, I feel there's absolutely going to be an upgraded Torch or a "torch like" upgraded device down the road. Will it be the large HD style screen we see on the Apple and Droid's? Will it do all the cool games and multimedia stuff? Will it have that fast processor?

Again just my feelings here, but I think yes, provided that RIM is still able to provide the "Blackberry experience". By that I mean the above mentioned solid and secure email, a solid and secure OS platform, solid call quality, and lastly and probably most importantly exceptional battery life.

Time will tell, but right now if you're a BB guy, the Torch is the top dog for Blackberry and I'm enjoying mine. Sure it has some rough edges but overall it's a solid new BB that delivers the BB experience and will only get better.

There's another thread about green dots on torch boxes and you post info about that too, but when asked about where the knowledge is from, there is no response. Just speculation is my guess.

I am sure that RIM has all this in the works but it will not be an Torch upgrade, it will be an entirely new RIM device. Next year or so will tell us how serious RIM is in keeping up!

With all the "refresh" models RIM puts out, You don't think they'll do a torch refresh? I would almost bet money on the fact they will.
