The only way to make it work I have found is when in your call log, select the number you want to look up and hit options-->view-->history. Once your in your call history select the number and it will tell you the date and time when the call was made, it is from this screen where the reverse lookup only seems to work.

Reverse look-up works fine for me on my 9800. Have you guys downloaded the latest Torch specific version? The version that transferred over from my 9700 was kind of buggy, but when I updated it it started working great.

Which version are you running? the one I have is 1.6.0.71, not sure if this is the most current.

I'm also running 1.6.0.71. But funny thing is, my 9700 is also running that version. But when Poynt moved over to my 9800 via the Device Switch Wizzard, it was all buggy. I guess it just needed to be installed from scratch on the 9800.

    Their response:

Subject: Poynt Feedback - 9800 Reverse Lookup

    "Hi Brad,

    Thanks for your email.

Unfortunately, the problem with Poynt's Reverse Lookup feature on BlackBerry Torch devices is being caused by an issue in OS 6. We are working with RIM to resolve the issue, but as this will require modifications to the OS code, we do not anticipate a resolution until the next upgrade for your OS."

I'm also running 1.6.0.71 but it will not work for me...a shame because it's one of Poynt's best features.

Like I said, that seems weird because it works for me. What OS are you running? I'm on .246. I have .284 at home waiting to be installed, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

EDIT - Nevermind, I see that you are trying to reverse lookup directly from your call log. I was going into the actual application.

    Hey everyone!

Thanks for the great discussion on Poynt's Reverse Lookup feature for Torch devices.

Though it is not yet possible to complete a reverse lookup from the call log because of an OS6 issue, we can confirm that it is possible to do a successful reverse lookup from your call history screen, as suggested above by ice_10!

Seaners, with respect to the "buggyness" that you experienced when transferring Poynt from your 9700 to the 9800, you are absolutely correct: when switching devices, a fresh install is required. We create unique builds of Poynt for each device type and OS version with each new release. Your device parameters are detected automatically when you download the app from App World or directly from us at Poynt download. If you have transferred the files for the app over from a previous device, you now have the wrong version of the app installed.
