I bought a refurbished 9810 recently. I have some problems would like to ask for help. I'm from Finland and have no BIS/BES. The phone is an unlocked one, was originally locked to AT&T.

First, the device is resisting OS upgrade (7.0 to 7.1.0.912). I have done some of the usual tricks like deleting the vendor xml files and running loader.exe as adminstrator (and rebooting after installing the OS to the computer). The OS doesn't show up at the list. I uninstalled, did a regclean and reinstalled, and then the loader program did show the new OS, but alas, it stuck at the first stage (connecting to the device). Then the next time, no OS on the list. BBSAK didn't help either ("no OS found").

Do you think that I should (and it would be safe to) wipe the device?

A second problem is with the service book and specifically MMS messages. I got MMS working very easily with a Curve 9220. However, this 9810 refuses to edit service books. Legacy SB restore is enabled. I've deleted the service books and done a battery pull. I've even tried to backup the perfectly working service books from the 9220 and restore them to 9810. Nothing seems to change.

You'll need to wipe the phone first, since it's not activated on a network. Possibly the service book will work after 7.1 is installed.

Yes, after wiping and a fresh install everything is working now. Thank you! I hope the battery life will now improve too.
