My Torch is unlocked. When in Canada, I have a typical data plan through my carrier (Telus). However, when I travel internationally, I buy a local SIM with a pay-as-you-go phone plan (no data). I want to use BIS via Wi-Fi.
Before going on the road, I thought I'd test things out. I put in a different carrier's SIM card, enabled Wi-Fi, and am connected to the Wi-Fi network, but BIS just does not connect.
Is there some setting that I am missing? Is it possible that even though my phone is unlocked, I can't connect to BIS when a different mobile company's SIM is in my phone? (Again, I just want to connect to BIS via Wi-Fi, not via the cell network.)
I'm pretty sure that I can't be the only one out there who wants to do this... What am I missing?
