    hey guys for some reason I cannot connect to the internet unless my wi-fi is on..


    When I go under service status, my BIS says not connected..
    I turn wi-fi on and same thing??

    (I'am able to browse when wi-fi is on) But what happens when I'm not around a hotspot??

    Who is your carrier?

    Do you have a BIS plan through your carrier?

    Have you resent your service books?

    If you cannot connect to BIS in 3G, are you able to connect to BIS in EDGE (is it displaying capital letters)?

    I just got the phone a couple of days ago online.. I guess I have BIS plan because they make you purchase an internet plan (I got the 15 dollar one)

    How do I do those last two things? lol

    and also, my BBM isn't working either. I have tried to add people and vice versa, but nothing comes through.

    call Customer service to set it up.
    or you can set it up yourself online.. through that att BIS website..
    i will call CS since it's faster.

    but why isn't it on anyway? I do have the internet plan, shouldn't it already be on?

    what phone were you using prior to the blackberry?
    although they're all called data/internet plans..
    they have to be set up individually..
    like if you're coming from an iphone to a BB..
    both will have data plans but they're different.. and you need some help setting them up for the first time.

    you need to update your registration..
    i did the same thing when i updated from a Bold 9000 to the Torch..
    and everytime you change a blackberry.. you will need to set up your BIS/BES

    that's just the way it goes

    i was using the bold 9000. Didn't have internet though.. But now they make you pay for the internet plan which I did add.

    so basically if I sign up on that website, my problem should be fixed?

    Under my bis it should say connected when done?

    You have to login to your carriers BIS site and have the pin changed to your new torch.

    Once your pin is changed you should notice the bis icon(4 little dots) next to your wifi or carrier icons(if your on 3g for your carrier).

    Check your connection status and see if you have BIS connectivity. If you don't, then call customer service they can set you up.

    guys it worked! thank you so much!! I don't have wi-fi on and now I get internet!

    I'm gonan try out BBM now, let's see

    question, if I leave the data services on all of the time (No other apps like weather atm) is it using data??
    It shouldn't technically, because I'm not running anything right?


    edittt- I just checked my BIS connection, it still says not connected. As well as BES. But internet IS working w/o wi-fi on.

    anyway, leaving the data ON means you are opening yourself to DATA consumption whether you are doing it voluntarily or NOT.
    receiving BBM messages.. doing updates on any apps.. will use DATA.

    do a battery pull..
    meaning, pull out the battery, wait for 1 minute and put it back again.
    OR
    press all these keys all at once. ( total is 3)
    Left alt + Right Shift + Delete keys
    you are doing a soft reset.

    just pulled the battery, still says not connected.


    Internet still works w/o wi-fi on.

    I sense I'll have a problem when running a 3rd party app though for some reason..

    Don't worry about BES. BlackBerry Enterprise Server is not something you have. It is for companies/organizations.

    Yes call CS, because BIS is supposed to say connected. And if you're able to access the internet with WiFi off, then you probably have the wrong data plan. BBM only works with an active BIS data plan.

    Did you setup BIS on AT&T's BIS site? Look for "Switch device" or "IMEI" in BIS and insert the info for the device.

    Why is it no in effect right now?
