I drag and drop my files onto my Blackberry SD card and sync iTunes music through its desktop software for mac. Sweet and simple, no issues/problems for me.

Switched from iPhone to Torch also no problem there. But I choose to sync with Google Calender and contacts via BIS and sync Google with spanningsync to my mac.

I think you will be very happy with this change.

You might have an issue with updating to a leaked os as those files never come mac compatible. If you have no problem with official OSs then you will be fine with mac desktop manager

    i'm a switcher as well.
and i have a macbook Pro late 2008 edition.
the desktop manager for windows is far better than the Mac version.
but for the basics like calendar, music from itunes, contacts, backing it up you're covered.

the only disadvantage i know is when you upgrade the Torch to the latest OS version.. currently it's 6.0.0.337.
it's better done on a PC.. even a netbook can do that job.

don't be afraid to switch.. you'll love it.
you'll miss the angry birds though

You will like the switch from an iPhone 3G going to the Torch but after I got my hands on an iPhone 4 and using it for a bit I had to stay with the i4. Especially after jailbreaking the Iphone4 I could never go back to a BB. But yes since you had your iPhone for 2 years which means you had 3G then the switch you will like. Touch screen on the Torch isn't as good as the 3G though IMO.

I'm using a Torch along side with a MacBook Pro. I have no problem syncing with iTunes and the desktop manager isn't bad like some have described on here. It will give you al the same feature as the PC version. You will be able to update your OS with official release with no leaked stuff.

For iTunes I just create a playlist called "myBlackberry" and add the songs I want to play on my phone. Then I use desktop manager sync my myBlackberry playllist.

just curious....why making the switch to Torch?

iphone and BB are very different animals....just make sure this is what you really want. I assume you have played with the BB Torch in your local store??

I made the switch myself and not regretting a bit.

I've never had any sync issues in terms of backups.
For music I manually drag and drop to the SD card - don't mess around with iTunes (less frustrating).

quick question...what's format of your song?
the Torch can play mp3 as well as AAC ( apple's format)
but if you somehow converted the song into an apple lossless version.. you will have a problem.
as i've said, i have a macbook Pro and syncing songs is as simple as:

    1. make a folder in itunes.. label it.. e.x. Blackberry Torch
    2. using Desktop manager click sync music and choose which folders to sync.. in this case.. the one you just created..

    that's it!

Well the next issue the wife and I sync last night and the phone just wiped 375 calender events off our Mac and now they are lost forever. It seems RIM does not make BB to be to compatable with Mac. The reason I want to switch was I wanted a physical keyboard and the Torch see to fill that need but if I can't get it to work right I will go back to Iphone. The sales person at AT&T said it would be no problem well I'm not impressed so far. My wife has had a BB in the past and she's not impressed also. We played with it in the store but there is only so much you can do with a demo phone. I want to keep the phone but there is no sence in getting so frustrated over a Cell Phone.

I had 4 different 9800s and I never could get one that worked exactly right. I also had all kinds of issues syncing with my MBP (contact sync never worked). I eventually got fed up and went with the iPhone 4.

I'm hoping the Torch refresh next year will have most of the kinks worked out. I really do miss a lot of the features of a Blackberry, but as of right now the Torch feels too much like a beta device and DM for OS X is just a joke.

you do back ups /time machine with your MAC right?
that will solve those 375 calendar events you lost.
and i was wondering, how did that happen?
the desktop manager will ask for confirmation from you if you want to replace data on your Blackberry or on the Mac..
i guess you accidentally chose to replace data on the Mac? right?

i'm not convincing you to stay with BB.
it's obvious that an Apple phone to an apple computer will work more smoothly than a BB to an apple.
but if you know what you're doing.. things will FLOW as smoothly as they should..

as i've said.. i own a Mac as well.. and i've been using Blackberries and iphones for years.

My wife is going to switch but I'm going to try to sync with my pc I have for school today and see what happens and yes it was our fault we lost all those events but I have never had to deal with that with a iphone. We can go back into time machine and get those events back it just seems not run as smooth as I was lead to believe.
