I'm curious-why did you switch back? I currently use the 9700 which I love, but I just went today to check out the Torch & I have to say I really, really loved it! I am seriously considering switching in a few weeks. What specifically made you return to your 9700?

I went back to the 9700 after two weeks with the Torch hoping OS6 would leak soon because that's all I really like with the 9800. After seeing how OS6 ran on non-touchscreen devices, I went back and got the 9800 and recently fell in love with it. It truly does it all, and OS6 seems like it was made for touchscreen devices...

I was just the opposite. I had a 9700 and was hoping for a touchscreen slider from RIM. The 9700 is a great phone but I can' t give up the increased functionality of having the touchscreen, trackpad and physical keyboard.

allways thought the 9700 was a little bulky(could be why it's called the BOLD), only reason i never bought one and stayed with my trusty 8310(the thing just works no issues ever). After using the torch for the last month or so theres no way in **** i could go back to a non touchscreen. Between the touch screen, trackpad, and physical k/b it just gets things done, hands down way faster at productivity once u get used to it.

I was thinking this earlier, my Torch was ordered yesterday and is currently en route via courier to my house, and I cant wait.

But what do I do with my Bold, I dont want to sell it as I do need a backup phone incase any problems arise with my Torch. It just seems too good a phone to be laying in a drawer gathering dust though.

I still have all my past Bberries. Sometimes I feel a wave of nostalgia and I pick up a past device. I still have my 9700 and I'd been thinking of swapping out the SIM card, but I just LOVE this Torch!!!!

The 9700 was an amazing phone, but I wouldn't go back to 5.0 or a non-touch 6.0 device for anything.

I dropped my 9700 in my garage about 3 weeks ago and the speaker stopped working. I couldn't get ring tone or use speakerphone. I went to AT&T and was going to just get another 9700. After all, I had insurance! Well, even with insurance a new 9700 would cost me $123 so I figured for another $75 why not upgrade? AT&T told me the 9700 could not be repaired. I upgraded to the Torch. At first, I didn't like it much. I wasn't comfortable with a touchscreen. Now, 3 weeks later, I love this phone! However, I still love the 9700 too. I found a place that could fix the 9700 so AT&T was not exactly honest about it not being repairable. I'm anxious to see how OS6 works on the 9700. I'll keep the 9700 because I love it and need a back up.

Browsing on the 9700 isn't good enough by today's standards. It just isn't. I really like the 9700, but I need the Torch for browsing.

Since I have gone Torch, I am not sure that I could go back to no touchscreen, not as much screen size, pinch to zoom, swipe and double-tap. The Torch seems like the best combination of a touchscreen device and a 9700.

Agreed. There's no way I can go without tabbed browsing (nevermind speed and rendering capabilities) at this point.

Spent two weeks with the Torch and it was an awesome device! I know some people had build issues and battery life trouble but I have to say mine was top quality and I got about 1.5 - 2 days of use before charging, depending on useage of course. BUT I ended up going back to my 9700 and the Torch went to the wife.
Ultimately there was nothing WRONG with the Torch - IMO it is a solid device, browsing is awesome and OS6 is great. I think I might have just been so used to the 9700 that it was hard for me to "relearn" on the Torch.

9780 might be the next device for me although I am curious as to whether or not RIM will actually bring a touch screen/QWERTY candy bar style phone out (Magnum)?
