My friend is a flight attendant so I want to give him money to get me a tourch and a 9780 later on...

But how much is the Torch in the USA?

I wanna get it through some carrier so it'd be cheaper then unlock it....

    thanks

Without getting a plan with the carrier it won't be any cheaper than anywhere else in the world.

Can't he like just sign up for a plan then just leave the country since he's not even living there?

Don't think you can sign a 2-year agreement if you don't live here.

Carrier subsidization is contingent on a 2 year contract so....

You're still better off buying it used off someone else.

ML, I seem to remember you saying many times in the 9700 forums that Touch screen devices were "too girly for you". Why the sudden interest? Btw, the no contract price is $499USD plus tax (usually ~9%).

I would expect the 9780 to cost the same.

Does your carrier even use the same 3G bands? I have not looked at the spec to see what EU vs NA carriers are using but I would certainly look at that before getting a device to use on your home network since I doubt you would be happy with EDGE.

You can get your friend to get it at BEST BUY or RADIO SHACK, check online for details, but sure you can buy there without a plan

i have a better idea... give a fake name and a fake address..
while the sales rep is helping other customers run out of the store with the torch..
do this 10 times and sell the other 9 on E bay..
