Yeah, you know that would be really handy. Maybe display the message too.
    I'd buy that...

    get BePopup Free from AppWorld.

it displays a message letting you know you received emails/texts and lights up the screen.

Hey thanks for your reply - I did check out that app, but the free one only provides pop ups for emails.....you have to buy the app for the text light ups. Any free options that you know of?? Thanks so much!

Actually, the free version works for texts, as well.

I've been using it since my 9700 and has always given notification for texts, emails, and even voicemails.

The Blackberry actually uses a little LED for notifications, that way you save battery life. Instead of having the entire screen light up for any type of message you have the little LED light up then you can check what type of message it is.

Apps can color the LED for each type of message, that way at a glance you can see what type of notification was just received.

I know shameless plug :P My app Leave It On will do what you are looking for. It can light up for about 20 different apps, including email, sms and bbm. It can also optionally show pop-ups for them.

I use BeBuzz Free, which allows me to change the LED color for 3 contacts. Doesn't light up the whole screen as far as I know, but it works pretty darn well for letting me know who just sent me what

Great app and cheap. I'd recommend "leave it on". Works well for apps like media player and google maps when you're plugged into a charger. An no I don't know the mod or get a commission!

So, if the LED lights up for something you don't consider important, you'll just leave your phone sit there? I don't think so. Regardless of the color, you are going to want to know what the message is. Red, green, blue or yellow, you're going to check the phone.
Actually I do. if the LED isnt a color that an important message I leave it till later, but everyone is different.

Same here, a text from a friend takes less precedence than a work email of course

Haha! Productivity leads to payroll if you play your cards right, but that's a discussion for another forum
