My husband wants to downgrade back to the original OS because he is having problems with App world now that he upgraded and I am not since I upgraded.

Download the original OS from the link at the top of the page, uninstall the beta OS from your PC, install the original OS to your PC then proceed the same way he installed the beta. It will ask if you want to downgrade, say yes.

Should we use App Loader or DM to do this? I am more used to using the app loader.

i use app loader to do my upgrades and downgrades. Once you remove the OS you don't want from your computer, you will be all good.

You can actually use either one since it's an official OS. It's usually better to use app loader with betas since DM doesn't usually recognize them.

    app loader.exe is located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
(assuming you have desktop manager, or Desktop Software as it's now called, installed).

I can't seem to find it... If I uninstall the whole desktop manager and re-uninstall again, will it ruin my phone?
