If you have the torch all you have to do is start typing their name out and it'll show up as the universal search thingie.

if you go into the phone options you can assign speed dials to almost any letter on the keyboard for fast dialing. Eg. H for home etc.

Best way I find is just hit the green phone key. Set it to open at the phonebook tab and start typing like you did on your other phone.

If you use universal search, you will have to search by name or business or address but not numbers.

first initial space last initial works wonders too when you have a lot of names. Just start typing that on your home screen.

Universal search is the best new feature imo. I just flip my keyboard open then start typing 1 to 3 letters in and my results appears.

If you don't have universal search as default when you start typing on the keyboard (but instead set it to Keyboard Shortcuts), "A" will open your address book then you can search from there.

Or hit the magnifying glass in the upper-right corner for the Search.
