I know - this sounds silly - but has anyone's torch gotten, well.. hot?
When i play games on it the bottom part behind the keyboard gets uncomfortably warm. Has anyone else noticed this?

Happens to most phones if you're on them along time... it's your battery giving off heat.
I did, but can't seem to reproduce it. Check out:

Isn't it called the Torch...
:P
My 9700 doesn't even get hot when its plugged in and I'm surfing or BBMing... My old 9530 with a steel back door got very hot while plugged in during use.
Adding to the evidence that a BlackBerry Torch does get hot during use.
Situation: I hade been surfing apps for about 10 minutes, then downloaded one. While downloading, received a call and was on that call for about 16 minutes. By the time the call was over, and I hurried it a bit, because the phone was getting hot, the Torch felt like it was building toward a flame.
Not completely too hot to hold, but uncomfortable, made more uncomfortable, because I didn't know hot much hotter it might get if I continued to use it. Have any of these batteries exploded, yet?
Heat was coming from the battery area on the back, for sure.
I have used it in WiFi mode for longer periods, and it did get warm. I am new at the smartphone thing, so just thought at the time the heat was from my hands. Don't think so now.
I think this is going back to ATT as soon as I have the time it takes to make the trade in and all that may involve.
Glad they didn't call it the BlackBerry Bomb.
It's resistance as power is drawn from the battery. Phone calls use a lot of power and if the reception is weak, then the radio requires even more power.
If you are simultaneously downloading + webpage (which GSM 3G networks can do) it uses even more power.
Any electronic device is going to give off heat. Whether Its a cell phone or a remote controlled car. That's what batteries do...they give off heat. Its called electricity. Common sense..what do you expect, it would get colder. That's why laptops and computers have cooling fans in them and they still give off alot of heat. Cell phones don't have the room to install fans in them... they're going to overheat or at least feel like they're overheating.
True, but the Torch heats up more than I'd like. Especially as it isn't the battery that's heating up, its the area behind the keyboard. I think that making that area as thin as they did prevents the heat from dissipating as quickly as I'd prefer.

Whatever life holds in store for me, I will never forget these words:" With great power comes great overheating ". This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I'm the Torch! :D

^LOL.
As said, it's the battery. I've felt the Torch get a little warm while on long phone calls, but nothing that was "hot" or uncomfortable by any means. And I've had other non-BB phones do the same thing. If it keeps getting so hot, perhaps the phone or battery is defective.
Every cellphone I have owned has gotten hot when used. I can't believe this is a surprising issue.

I just noticed this the past couple days too! And you know, it's not really the battery (which is at the top of the device, and remains cool)...it IS the bottom back of the phone as originally said. It's so bad that I can feel the heat through the front of the keypad! And yes, I've had other cell phones before the Torch too, but they never got specifically hot like this, especially when they are just sitting there. They might get hot when being charged for a long time, but mine is hot as I type, and it's not charging and I'm barely even using it. First the BIS connectivity issue, and now this... Oh Torch, you really bamboozled me.
