Can you make the email notification on the desktop disappear? The envelope with the red asterik?

I have figured out to stop the reminder sound but I would like the icon to disappear. I don't want to be reminded every time I get an email. Thanks for your suggestions.

You could try going to the Messages folder > BB menu > Options > Message Display and Actions and uncheck "Display New Message Indicator".
