Hey guys I recently discovered that dust can get under the screen (still not sure how) and I mean a substantial amount to where it looks like tons of specks. I had mine specifically in the top left corner and some on the bottom.

ATT WILL NOT COVER THIS IN THEIR WARRANTY EXCHANGE SO DON'T TELL THEM OR YOUR OUT OF WARRANTY!!!

They put my 1 month old torch out of warranty as dust under the screen is not covered, not a current issue and some other BS they came up with. I tried to make them understand but was eventually offered a refund of the ASURION warranty insurance deductible. So I have a new torch from them but they charged me 125$ - waiting on ATT to refund my account. Got confirmation from a supervisor and her name that this will be refunded.

Has anyone else had this problem - How the heck can dust get into a sealed screen and mind you my phones are in perfect condition - kept clean and unscratched.

btw I discovered this dust -

    1. the screen wasn't getting cleaned when I used the supplied cloth

    2. I turned off the screen and look under a lamp and saw all the speckles.

    3. White screens make it all so visible its horrible when in the browser.

    Thanks

There have been reports of dust under the screen, see this specific thread: http://forums.crackberry.com/f209/du...screen-529388/

I so appreciate my Otterbox and glad I put it on right after purchasing. I know, I know... there are critics of the size after placing on the Torch, but that really doesn't bother me. Dust under the screen does.

It's just how it is with capacitive touchscreen phones. The screen is divided into two layers and so dust gets trapped between as a result.

I've never had dust under any of my capacitive screens.

Dont EVER do warranty over the phone if you can help it. There is much more "wiggle" room at most DSC's locations.

Why would this help? As I understand it, the dust gets in during production or thorough the ports, which are exposed on the Otterbox.

how much did you pay to get the insurance in the first place? (not referring to the amount they charged you to fix it)

must have been a lot of dust to get you to return it. I've never owned a capacitive screen before so I can't say I've ever experience a huge amount of it. bits here and there but not enough to make me fork out 125 dollars.

shame you didn't have a photo to show us, I would have been interested in seeing how much got through.

Its like 5 bucks a month for the insurance through att. Its provided when u buy a new device. I always get it because if I ever break the phone I got no worries for replacing. Better than buying at full price etc.

Need something done do it yourself, att should replace the phone if your not satisfied dust or no dust, and dust is worse than a button, eventually it will prohibit you from viewing your contents, listen let them know you have problems viewing your contents they will change it don't blame att its not att most of the time they will change it. Its the power trip idiots that think they own the company and they only work there, some get a high giving customers trubble, I bin through this enough to know how to deal with it. Call the main offices ask to speak to a manager or someone that runs the store. Even thou I never heard of it there are other ways of cleaning or getting the dust out.
