Is it in a reduced power state? Or is the screen just turned off?

It also cleans the memory/cache as well as put into a "standby" mode of sorts. So to answer your question, yes but not like the standby our PC would go into. It is different.

The screen powers down, to conserve battery...

Key presses have no impact, and the screen stays off...

When a call comes in... the screen lights up and gives you the option to answer/ignore the call...

It's really meant as a way to conserve battery power, yet leave the device in "functional state" that can receive calls, emails, text messages, play the various notifier sounds set by "Profiles", etc....

so.... does pressing the "lock" button on the top do the samething as placing it in the holster or not?

i think we all understand that you can set the phone to vibe in the holster and other settings as such but does it do anything different to the OS to help conserve battery besides turning the screen off? or does the button on the top do the same thing?
