I recently bought a unlocked bb torch 9800. i have a mobilicity sim card and put it in and nothing works. i know that T-mobile and mobilicity run on the AWS frequency 1700/2100. But i cannot even make a phone call or a text message. How do people make the torch work on tmobile??? and why isnn't it working for mobilicity??

Can't i do something to the phone to make it work? what are my options , I really want it to work with mobilicity.

You can't get 3G on TMO since AT&T uses different frequencies.

The Torch will work fine on Rogers, Fido, Bell, Telus, Virgin, AT&T with 3G connections

Wind & Mobilicity for voice only.

    T-Mobile will get EDGE connection

On mobilicity in canada you can force your torch on 2g only but then it will be roaming. You're gonna get smacked with roaming fees since you can't connect on mobilictys 3G only network. On t mobile you can use the phone on 2G because they have an existing 2G network.

it wont work on wind in canada. wind only has the aws 3G network. wind does not have an edge network.

The Torch or any Rogers, AT&T, FIDO, TELUS, Bell, etc phones/tablets/USB adapters/laptops with 3G (850Mhz/1900MHz) for that matter will NOT work on Mobilicity or Wind or Public Mobile in Canada!!!

This is because those networks only have 3G AWS bands and do not have any sort of 2G(EDGE) 1G(GPRS) networks for the phone to fall back on since it cannot work with their AWS 3G implementation.

Won't happen soon. AT&T has an exclusive deal in the US and RIM isn't going to make an AWS band Torch for Canada only.

    Hi there,

I m new here as well(from Toronto), and I believe I have some similar questions same to the OP. I m thinking to get the Bold 9780 for Mobilicity(but I haven't seen Mb taking this model in yet)

Will it work? I also copied the spec of Freq from T-mobile's site.
(I alsot thinking if possible, I might try to get one from T-mobile,Is it gonna be workable?)

    Band (Frequency): GSM: 850; 900; 1800; 1900 UMTS: 1 (2100); 4 (AWS 1700/2100); 8 (900)

    Thanks you all in advance!!
