Well, after playing with my 9800 for quite a few days now, the fabled BB battery life is certainly there (in that I can get easy more than a day out of it, which is pretty good considering what the phone does - my N1 was charge every night!) but I wondered just how much people are getting as an average.

Prior to today, I was seeing about 35-40% used during a normal working day (7:45-3:45 at the moment, really continuing till about 5pm) but I decided to have a bit tinker on, and removed Lookout as I've passworded and encrypted my handset and SD card, so if I lost it - I wouldn't need to worry about personal data being compromised. It went from 35-40% used, to 25% used during the same time frame.

As of now, it's currently sitting on 68%, which considering it's been pretty well played with today, I'm pretty damn chuffed about! 32% drain in 16 hours or thereabouts since coming off charge is really pretty damn good!

So yeah, if you're suffering from a bit more drain than usual, look at Lookout - it's a handy app but it likes the sauce a bit, and if you aren't - what do you usually get on average out of a charge?

I'm getting up to 3 days right now.
I don't make to many phone calls but I'm heavy on the messaging, surfing, online videos, email and apps like stocks, sports, etc.

Heh. My boss's jaw literally dropped when I told him I was on 2 days with a good 40% left the other day.

I'm also running Slick Pool 1.0 beta theme and msn, yahoo in the background.

I'm sure if I was on the phone more I would get only 2 days max.

    Lovin the batt!!!

Ah! forgot to change the phone tag.
    Yes I have the 9800.

    Bought it Oct 4th.

I don't use the phone much. I have a LAN line at home and no one calls me during work hours (this is a personal phone). So I'm pretty sure this is giving me the extra day.

If I'm not using the app, I close it (except for Yahoo! and MSN most of the time).
When I'm done with the phone I lock it right away, I don't let it sit with the screen on.

    I run at 70% backlight.

Other than that, I let the battery drain down to 5% (assuming I can plug it in any time).

When I first got the phone I HATED the battery life! I was only getting about 6 or 7 hours a day with MILD use...

But then i downloaded the .246 update and after about 18 hours without charge im at 75 % and im using the phone a lot more now ! Im so happy with the battery life...

Oh I also switched from 3g to 2g because i live in a really bad area (signal wise) but I have been running it on WIFI all day and its been working like a champ...

I get anywhere between 2-4 days on my torch. I am not typically a heavy user which helps alot. I am curious to see how long my last charge is going to last as I charged it Sunday afternoon and I am still sitting at 50% which is the best Ive had thus far. Alot also depends on where I am during the day as some areas have low reception which kills the battery in a day. I also have wi-fi turned off as I found it saves alot on battery as well. I only turn it on when im using it, otherwise it stays off.

I get anywhere from 24-36+ hours with light to moderate use..which for me is minimum 20-40BBM's and texts throughout the day, as well as anywhere from 5-10emails and 30-60min phone usage and minimum 1hr web usage (per day). If I'm heavy using the phone (like 3-4 hours or more on the web), and on the phone for 2-3hours (talk time) in the day, i'll get about about 10-12 hours. I usually pull my phone off charge at about 5:30am and go to bed around 10:00pm with the phone back on the charge then.

EDIT: This is my second battery. My first battery was getting horrid battery life so i got another one. With my first one, when i first purchased the phone, during the initial setup and customizing of the phone i didn't put it down at all for 3-4 hours, and my battery went from full to about 18% in that time period. Easing off on the phone over the next couple days I could maybe get 6 hours out of it..and i knew that wasn't right..so I switched batteries and couldnt be happier now.

I can easily get 2 whole days out of my Torch.

I don't make many calls but I use email, text, and the web A LOT (and I mean at the least, 3-4 hours a day...and that's a low call). I don't usually have wifi on. If I need it, I turn it on then turn it off right after I'm done. I also listened to music for about an hour while walking this evening.

I took my phone off the charger about 1am Tuesday morning and I'm just getting to 50% battery! o

I forgot my wall charger cable at a job trailer last week. Since then I've only used my car charger 1 hour / day (1/2 hour each morning and night). I used my sleep holster regularly. In that time I never dropped below 80%. That = about 20% for a 10 hour day with light use.

Previously, with moderate use starting @ 100% I normally have ~60-65% left after a 15 hour day.

I get up to 3 days. Maybe more like 2.5 days. 80% brightness, 20 sec backlight, no green status LED, 20-40 BBM/SMS per day, 10-20 minutes calling per day.

I get about two days with moderate usage. I upgraded from a Curve 8530 that had to be charged every day with the same usage pattern. I still charge every night as I get nervous when my phone's battery only shows 30% or less left!

I can't get through 12 hours with my regular usage, which admittedly is heavy, but I still think I have a defective battery. I guess its back to Rogers for a swap.

I would definitely switch out the battery for a new one. Even with heavy usage, I would think you'd be able to get at least 12 hours out of it. Especially with so many people saying that it can last a few days (like me)

Yesterday, I took my BB off its charger at 5:45 am. I put it back at 12:45 am (yep, 19 hours later). During at time, I received over 100 messages, replied to a few of them, had about 20 text messages and a few single and group BBM conversation going. I spent about 1/2 hour on the phone and over 2 hours on the web. When I put the BB back on its charger, at had still 55% charge left.

Today, I took it off its charger at 7am and now, it's still at 65% at 10:30 pm. Had about the same type of usage as yesterday.

    24hr - 36hrs.

    WiFi and Bluetooth on.
    Moderate Use.

Keep in mind when I first bought this thing I let the batt drain completely and then reacharged fully like 5 times. This is what helps make a strong long lasting battery, most people forget that.

I'm not getting as much battery power as a lot of you. I took my phone off the charger at around 12:45pm today and now it's 12:25am, so roughly 12 hours later. I am sitting at 30% right now.

There was barely any use of it today. Just some occasional instant messaging and that's it. I'm at work all day and we're not allowed to have our phones out so my phone sits in my pocket most of the day anyways.

I did have wifi on and both msn and google talk running in the background the whole time. Does that justify my phone draining 70% of its battery in 12 hours? Any advice on how to save my battery life would be appreciated! Everything else about my phone is perfect!

Rogers Tech Support gave me a reference number to go into a store to get a whole new device, so hopefully the replacement phone will have improved battery life.

I took my phone off the charger at 9:00 am this morning and it's 9:30 pm now and I have 2% left. It's been a pretty low usage day for me as well, with no more than 30 mins in calls and a low email count for me, as I did an office day today rather then spend the day in the field like I usually do.

    I'm getting 1.5 to 2 days.

I'm heavy on wifi usage... Lots of messaging from bbm, google talk, msn, games, browsing. I like my backlight bright too. It's nice to get at least a full day of heavy use, something I never got on my android.

I used an 8900 for a year and the battery life on that thing was unreal. Would last for several days.

First few days on my Torch the battery drained quickly but it seems to be improving. Unplugged it from a full charge at 7:30 am yesterday morning and it sits currently at approx. 40% life left at 1:15 am. It was a heavy usage day also with over a hundred e-mails and a few phone calls...and some youtube time.

Shweet! The official T-Mobile 5.0 update was killing my battery. Went with the overseas .509 and its freaking magical!! Glad you're liking the Torch! I'm hoping to switch to the 9700 when it gets OS6 or keep dreaming for a touch device on T-Mobile.

I think the battery is good for 2 days with decent use if you dont have tons of open apps, gps on, social feeds/rss doing its thing all day, constant weather updates and bbm groups that post lots of pictures
