So it seems when I play AVI files, movies ranging from 500mb to alittle over a gig, I start to get the Chinese mouth. You know, when the mouth moves and sounds follow shortly after. Of course it happens with all sound not just speaking.

It isn't the file itself as they play fine on my computer also when I move the videos slider bar forward and back the sound ks correct but then starts to lag again. Hitting pause and play doesn't help.

Other video files and the phones video recorder play fine it just seems its AVI files... Or maybe its the larger ones that have the problem? I am running the BB original video player with the updated OS, no video apps.

    Any thoughts?

Lol chinese mouth? Why you gotta be al racialist like that.

I'm assuming you are referring to unsynchronized dialoge from the old kung fu movies that were dubbed over into english.

My theory on the lagging video is that as you play the video, battery power drops and processor (cpu) power decreases to boost battery efficiency.

So like an underpowered pc playing high resolution fps rich video the lag steadily gets worse further you get into movie.

More efficient codec's could help, not aware of any for bb though.

Not racist... I am a white man who chose to move into the south to work in a black community. Definitely I hate everyone equally.... lol j/k just trying to get the visual out there, so yes like the old CHINESE kung fu movies

I would maybe agree with your thought process except that moving the movies slider around and then back to the original position should not be fixing the issue, which it does, if the problem was heat and processing.

So I am thinking another problem present.

Where did this avi file come from? The BB definitely has an ideal frame-rate along with a sweet spot for the audio frequency. I've used a few different conversion programs that have had varying success with my Bold and now my Torch. Files that can play fine on the PC do not necessarily work as well on the BB. So far, I've had the best luck using "Any Video Converter" which has presets for the Blackberry which have been flawless...

Can you reveal what those sweet spots are?

I use avidemux for some casual editing and some codec's just plain won't run.. Other audio codec's mute the entire track and some make the media player struggle to the point of dropping frames during playback.
