I'm new to smartphones so I want to start with an app that's free. I found viigo and now it says it's not available for the Torch or at&t.

I guess I need another one. What do you use?

I need one that's free and easy to use (since I'm new).

And since it's free, do they give out our phone #s so we end up with tons of unsolicited calls? I've always been really careful about giving out my cell # because I don't want telemarketing calls or whatever on it. Am I gonna lose my privacy because I'm using a smartphone now? Ok, that's a whole other question.

Try XPRSS or the new BlackBerry News Feeds apps. Both work well.

I use both. No unsolicited phone calls yet.

if your on a torch, ya dont need any extra apps, use the RSS reader thats built into social feeds, looks kinda like 4 squares in a circle.
