I would like to buy a BlackBerry Bold 9800 off of Ebay. I understand that it doesnt work on Verizon, but I would like to use it as either a prop, or possibly on Verizon if it was possible. But for now, am I able to use the phone, like go through its menus and BlackBerry App store and BBM, without any type of data plan or other carriers and only use wifi?

    Thanks in advance!

Torch 9800 will not work on Verizon. You might be able to use some apps and the browser, but BBM won't work without a data plan.

the 9800 is a GSM device that can work with all the GSM carriers (if unlocked) that supports blackberry BIS (for just calls and SMS can be used with any regular sim card without a data plan, including prepaid).

Verizon (cdma carrier) will not support that device.
