Ok so if I "add to homescreen" a web page - it asks you for a name, what folder on the homescreen you want it and there's a checkbox for "add to favorites".
If you then go to the icon on your homescreen and say "unmark as favorite" - it will reappear as a favorite after a reboot. The only way to do it is to delete it then do the "add to homescreen" again...this time with the add to favorites box unchecked.
On a side note - it appears that this is a bit of a lag danger...if you have a bunch of them in a homescreen it causes lag when switching to that homescreen page. It also takes like 3 seconds to delete one of these icons for some reason.
